Editorial Review for Andrew Molera State Park – by Steven Jenkins
Overview
This is the largest state park along Big Sur, and its many attractions range from easy-access trails and Captain Cooper's 100-year-old pioneer log cabin to horseback rides and bobcat sightings. Beyond the drive-in entrance, you won't find any roads throughout the entire park, so bring comfy sneakers or sturdy boots and prepare to do plenty of walking if you want to explore the environ's enticing nooks and crannies.
The Experience
Blessedly untrammeled by the masses, Molera Park attracts loners and small groups who usually know their way around, so don't hesitate to ask for directions or tips. Walking along the beach is especially rewarding, particularly after rolling up your pant legs and wading across an icy yet relatively shallow stream separating the coast from the rest of the park.
