Editorial Review for Lucia Lodge Restaurant – by Steven Jenkins
In Short
Glorious sunshine, fresh air and breathtaking ocean views elevate an otherwise ordinary lunch experience to a whole new level of satisfaction. Be sure to request an outdoor spot in order to fully take in the stunning view of the Pacific. If you're truly lucky, a native bluebird will alight on the patio railing next to your table. Soups, salads and sandwiches form the bulk of the menu. Vegetarian options include a veggie sandwich and pasta dishes.

We spent the night in one of the cabins,(again way over priced) the food was of very poor quality, tasted old & freezer burned & was indifferently served. Go hungry rather than eat here.
Pros: breathtaking views
Cons: stomach turning food

I can't believe this restaurant was recommended with an 8.8 rating. I can only guess that the kitchen staff has changed. We were there on a weekend over labor day weekend, and spent $100 (for two people) on one of the worst meals I've eaten at a restaurant, certainly at one charging those prices. an average piece of chicken with fat and gristle on it, drowned in a buttery pesto sauce, served with a rice-a-roni side dish, an undercooked broccoli stalk, and cooked carrots. the shrimp dish was just as bad. overcooked shrimp with the same lame side dishes. and each entree cost around $25. I'm not usually picky about my meals, but I still can't believe I spent $100 on food that bad. The views are great. The restaurant setting is casual. Our waitress was nice, but flighty. and there were a few flies around. But avoid this restaurant absolutely because of the food. All restaurants in Big Sur are expensive, but most of the others I've been to serve you gourmet meals.
Pros: Great views.
Cons: Bad food at outrageous prices.
